If you have ever wondered why Hilton Head Island's beaches are so wide, expansive and beautiful year after year without any noticeable erosion, the reason is Beach Renourishment. Beach Renourishment is the process of moving sand from off-shore locations to areas of the beach that are vulnerable to erosion from winds and tides. This is an important endeavor that takes place every 8-10 years on Hilton Head Island in order to keep our shorelines protected.
